The Barn

Beudy Banc (pronounced baydee bank) has been carefully designed to offer a spacious stay with an equal mix of luxurious comfort and eclectic style. Downstairs, the barn is focused around a wonderful open double-height kitchen diner featuring traditional oak floor and exposed stone walls. A traditional dining table means you can cook, eat and relax together as a group here, then kick back in the comfy living room around the wood burning stove.

Leading off outside is a fantastic raised deck offering guests uninterupted views over the fields and on to Cader Idris, or westwards over Machynlleth towards Aberdovey and the west coast.

Back inside, a mezzanine floor over the lounge area houses the first double bedroom. A comfortable wrought iron bed and electic furniture and fittings create a spectacular space. With the curtains thrown open guests can look down onto the kitchen area and demand coffee and toast! At the other end of the barn are three further bedrooms, including one smaller room ideal for children, with a single bed plus an additional foldaway bed if required. Next door accommodates a larger double bedroom. A spiral staircase leads to the fourth bedroom in the apex roof of the barn, with wrought iron double bed.

The main bathroom in the barn offers glorious views down the valley from the sunken bath - a real touch of rural luxury! There is also a seperate shower in the wet room - ideal after a muddy time exploring outdoors.

OFF-GRID freedom

Sustainability and environmentally concious design has been at the heart of every decision in the conversion of the barn into holiday accommodation.  

"Eco-friendly" doesn't mean we've compromised on quality & comfort though. The barn has superb insulation, for comfort all year round. Being ‘off grid’ all the required power is produced on-site from solar and wind. No mains electricity means fewer distractions from the outside world, allowing you to fully wind down. We have provided numerous board games, books, a wind-up radio and spectacular scenery - time to enjoy the simple pleasures in life!

Heating is provided through the wood burning stove, with plenty of firewood provided for you to use as needed - you’ll find the space quickly warms up and stays warm. 

A place to explore

This relatively undiscovered part of south Snowdonia is naturally beautiful whether on foot or on bikes. There are true mountains, like Cadair Idris, as well as miles of trails taking in ancient woodland, clear mountain streams and waterfalls, coastal paths and miles of rolling green fields, forests and upland. You’ll be far from the crowds that this end of the Snowdonia National Park, for a real opportunity to explore the true wilderness of Wales.

A short 10 minute drive is the historic market town of Machynlleth, once the ancient capital of Wales and home to Owain Glyndwr, the heroic welsh rebel of medieval times. The town hosts a busy market every Wednesday and is home to a great range of independent shops, galleries, cafes and pubs, as well as a large Co-op supermarket for essentials.

Further into the Dyfi is the ‘Centre for Alternative Technology (CAT)’ as well as a Corris Craft Centre and ‘King Arthurs Labyrinth’, set deep underground in slate caverns and tales of legends that will capture the imagination of the whole family.

Heading west to the coast are the popular seaside towns and beaches of Aberdyfi and Towyn. There are stunning open beaches and dunes too at Ynyslas and Borth. Bala, to the east, is famous for its fishing and whitewater rafting and the world-renowned mountain biking trails of Coed Y Brenin are about 30 minutes to the north.
